Most organizations fail when it comes to internal communications. They also fail miserably when it comes to work instructions. Some of the causes for this failure are; lack of clarity, follow-up information and resources.
Beyond these reasons, work instructions fail because the manager incorrectly assumes his direct reports understand the background, context and the importance of the task. Inevitably, the instruction fails to elicit the desired response.
Similarly, unilateral, top-down form of issuing work instructions generates a passive response from the workforce. Top down work instructions leave little room for the employees to think out of the box and develop their own solutions.
Unfortunately, giving clear work instructions is like walking on a wire. Give too much details then it appears as if the manager is monitoring or micro managing.
A clear and precise order not only ensures completion of the work and enhances the capabilities of both the employees' and the organization.

Content Development: Will artists stoop to conquer?
Mark McGuiness believes artists are uniquely suited to succeed online as they are the original content creators. On the other hand, when it comes to content marketing, he believes they are weak.
Though there is merit in his argument, I do not buy it completely. Granted artists are the original content developers but who says they are weak in content marketing. A look at the fancy bids at auction houses is enough to make the assertion false.
